The College Scholarship Committee received another matching grant from AIA national this year. They have been successful every year starting in 2014 in receiving this grant. Many of the award winners become active in leadership in AIA Alaska. Please consider donating to the scholarship education fund - More info in the "Did You Know" section below.

Statewide News -

A CALL for PRESENTATIONS, along with REGISTRATION for the Annual Conference in Homer is now available online!  Have your AIA Member number handy when you register and receive $100 discount!  An additional $50 for you if you register before midnight July 31!!! 

Affiliate Members wishing to exhibit at the Annual Conference will also receive a discountl, contact Angie for your discount code!  Space is limited in the tradeshow so if you don't register early and miss out on a table, plan to attend as a sponsor or attendee to join us for networking and sharing!

2017 Call for Design Award entries is now on the AIA Alaska website!

In 2017 AIA Alaska lowered our local dues so our members would have a net 0 change. AIA National is raising their portion of dues another 2% for 2018. The board will be looking at dues this fall. Send comments to secretary-treasurer@aiaalaska.org

Did you Know?

Did you know that AIA Alaska has a scholarship program for Alaskan resident students that pursue an accredited architecture degree? The scholarships are issued at the end of the calendar year in time for spring semester. Alison Ross at Montana University was the most recent recipient and received $2,000.00. We are currently fundraising for this scholarship and have received a $1,000.00 matching grant from AIA National for 2017. Anchorage will have a Regional visit from our Senior Regional Director / Strategic Council Representative Chere LeClair August 15th. Look for a member event that day in Central section.

National News -

AIA National has taken another step in Public Outreach/Awareness; all together called Blueprint for Better. With "I Look Up" film challenge, AIA ads on TV, and TopicA - the new public facing website we are seeing the effort of re-positioning from years past. AIA has also provided a hand book for us architects on how to talk to clients. See HERE.


At A'17 - the newly branded AIA Conference on Architecture our new leadership was elected. Read about your new leaders HERE. We have representation from Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Massachusetts.
