Community Service

Architects are much more than mere designers. They are—through their extensive education and professional training as problem solvers and creative thinkers—business and community leaders who play a vital role in our state's economies and local neighborhoods. Many AIA architects hold leadership roles within our community: through service on state commissions and task forces, neighborhood boards, as active Rotarians and volunteer leaders in their childrens' schools and more.

Community Outreach Projects

As part of our Community programming, AIA Alaska members participate in scheduled community outreach programs to give back to the community in which we live. Past and planned efforts by AIA Chapter members include:

  • AIA Alaska phone bank team to assist Alaska Public Radio in their semi-annual pledge drive to bring quality radio programming to Alaska

  • Habitat for Humanities projects organized by our Emerging Professionals/Associates Committee

  • Member participation in beach clean-up days and other restoration projects around the island

  • Representatives for local School Career Days.
