| Continuation of Annual Scholarship Program:
In 2010, scholarships totaling
$3000 will be awarded to Alaska residents currently enrolled in
an accredited school of Architecture. Eligible student(s) must
be a permanent
resident of the State of Alaska and have completed six or more
semesters in a program leading to a Bachelors Degree in Architecture
or enrolled in a Masters
Program in Architecture prior to May 30th.
The scholarship will be awarded based on overall ability, desire, determination and potential for successfully completing their architectural education and entering into architecture as a profession. Applicants will be required to sumbit a resume, transcript and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
Complete applications must be
received by AIA Alaska no later than September 30th.
About the Program:
Purpose: To
annually present a single or multuple scholarships totaling $4000 to deserving
Alaska resident students who have completed at least their sixth semester
(junior year) of an accredited architectural program by September 30th.
Invitations will be made available to NAAB Accredited Programs in Architecture, posted on the AIA Alaska website, and featured in the "Current Events",
AIA Alaska's chapter newsletter.
Eligible students may apply
each year after January 30th.
Procedure: Candidates must submit an application packet containing a personal letter stating need, qualifications, and desire. In addition, a completed application form, resume, and transcript, as well as a letter of recommendation from a faculty member must be included in the package. The scholarship committee must receive entries not later than September 30th.
Evaluation: Submittals will be evauated by a committee made up of a minimum of three AIA Alaska chapter members. Award will be based on:
- Potential for completing program and entering the profession of architecture.
- Desire and determination
- Overal ability
Selection: The Scholarship Committee will meet during month of October to evaluate applications received, and up to three applicants will be selected for award of scholarship funds. Recipients will be notified by October 31st
Instructions: Eligible students may apply, beginning each year after Janurary 30. All applications must be received by Septemer 30th. All

All application packets must include:
- Cover Letter
- Each applicant is requested to provide a cover letter to their application package. This letter should introduce the applicant and explain their reasons for applying, professional goals, and reasons in which they feel they would be deserving of the AIA Alaska Scholarship.
- Application Form
- Personal data of the applicant
- Must be complete
- Transcript
- Each applicant is to provide an official transcript of their college record from thier institution.
- Transcript can be inclided in application package, or sent to AIA Alaska by the school.
- This transcript will be used in determining academic eligibility for the scholarship
- Resume
- Each applicant shall provide a personal resume listing complete educational background, employment history, extra-curricular activities relating to the architectural profession, and architecturally related travel interests. A maximum of three 8 1/2 x 11 examples of work can also be included.
